Is there ways to change the theme or style of my Droid's hone screen and icons? I hear all about these roms and themes but are he only for rooted phones? Are the compatible with stock droids? Are there any screen shots of what they look like before I download them?

not without using a home replacement application. some are themeable.

im not sure (i only use launcher pro) but i think some of the following are themeable

ADW launcher
BetterCut
Sweeter Home

i might be mistaken though. still stuck with the stock icons

but rooting is def one way to go if you want everything. can also get app packs to change the icons

I need a regular PC to root right? I only have a Mac. Waiting on rooting cause I'm not that computer savvy
