Web picture zooming Droid verses my ipod touch...

I have an ipod Touch and my Droid. I know the Droid screen resolution is about twice what the ipod touch has, and when I zoom a picture on my browser on the Touch is remains very clear way in. But on the Droid it gets fuzzy after a bit. Seems odd to me. Is it the way the algorithm for zooming is written, as in the zoom on the Droid resizes over 100% verse the Touch which doesn't resize over 100% just pulls it all in? If that makes sense.
