    When I put phone in vibrate mode, it goes into silent mode.

    It shows the vibrate icon on the top of the home screen but when I go into settings, the box that says silent mode is checked.

    Mine does the same thing. Technically it is silent mode with vibrate. One more click would just be silent mode no vibrate. Both stop ringtones, sms tones etc, just that one still allows vibrate.

    If I understand correctly, then your phone is operating exactly as it should, just as mjs31 said. Are you looking for the phone to do something different? Because there are a slew of apps to change notifications and alerts and such...
