Do you think this will help at all or am I just being a noob?
Just being a noob
If you need to remove your battery cover and drill holes in your case just to run at 1GHZ, first ask yourself is it worth it? Venting heat is always good but the bottom line is you will only cool a processor down by drawing heat off and away from it. There are no fans in there to do this.
But to answer your question, removing the cover and holes in your case will make little or no difference.
