First of all I have been searching and reading before posting this thread, and I read this thread about data plan misconceptions:
Here's why I am confused: I have had a Droid 2 for a little under 2 years, and am quite happy with it. Last year, Verizon had a "promotional plan" that came out and caused quite a stir on Droid Forums. The plan has 450 minutes talk, but text and data is "unlimited". I made damn sure when I signed up for the plan that data was "unlimited", and have been told by Verizon reps several times that as long as I don't change my plan, my data will stay "grandfathered in" for data to be "unlimited", even though the misconceptions thread I posted a link to says that the plans do NOT have a 5GB cap. They also told me that even if I upgrade to a new phone, my data plan will remain "unlimited" on a new phone.
So ... I am due for an upgrade and contract extension in September, but in my searching and reading I have found "plan changes" are being put into effect on June 28th by Verizon.
So if I upgrade to a new phone in September, will that plan stay intact, or is Big Red going to stick it to me since it will be after June 28th, and most important, will I be 4G eligible with a new phone or will I have to stay with 3G to avoid having them stick it to me for more money? Am I stuck on 3G with this plan? They told me I can't change my plan, and they also told me THEY can't change my plan either, but everything I am reading here tells me that the $30 data plan is truly unlimited anyway.
Now you see why I'm confused?
