Eligible for Upgrade on 6/29

I know this questions surfaces every day, but at the same time it seems to change from day to day as well.

I'm not opposed to waiting a month or so if a groundbreaking new device is on the horizon, but at the same time I realize this can easily turn into a cycle of waiting for the biggest and best (just in time for the next biggest and best to come into the future view and waiting again).

I currently have a Droid X, and I've really liked it. It has been my favorite phone thus far, although it does have a few problems (notable cutting off and resending text messages when it restarts).

I like big flashy screens (no need for a keyboard). I also like customization. My HTC Touch (previous phone) had a lot more in that department than this one does, so I'd like to get that back to an extent (WinMo sucked though). At the same time, it isn't worth a huge downgrade in device just to get something more customizable. I am pretty tech savvy though, I build computers as a hobby and tinker with them when I'm not building them.

From the other posts on this I've seen the RAZR Maxx, the HTC Rezound with Extended Battery, and the Nexus One (I think). What would ya'll recommend for my preferences? Is there something coming out in the next few months that I should hold out for? I don't really mind the size of the device (if it leads to a larger screen I'm all for it).

I have the Razr Maxx and the Rezound and had the Galaxy Nexus, which I had nothing but trouble with (3 of them).

The Maxx is my fav of the moment because of the smart actions, size and battery life. Ive yet to kill it and I am a heavy user.
I like the Rezound because of its camera (the best Ive ever seen on a vzw phone) and I am able to talk and surf at the same time on 3G.

If you are on an unlimited plan you may want to think about upgrading before the 28th.

My opinion, for customization it's going to be the Nexus, for screen size, it's either wait for the Droid RAZR HD (possible codename "Vanquish"), or go Droid RAZR MAXX. For battery, it's the Droid RAZR MAXX, but I can' speak for the Rezound with extended battery, so it's still in the running...Nix the Nex on battery. There will be other devices coming that are worth consideration, but with the RAZR MAXX at $99 for new activations and $199 for upgrades, the savings against the next new thing may be well worth it. The MAXX is up for the ICS OTA push VERY SOON, possibly even this week, but I think at the latest by the end of this month, and from what I've seen of it (including an early leak I ran for weeks), it's going to be something very special.

So what exactly is happening on the 28th? I've seen it mentioned but never seen the actual changes.

Apparently pre-ordering the SGS3 is also an option? Worth it?
