Using a Cradlepoint Router as a Wifi Hotspot

I purchased a Cradlepoint PHS300 in an attempt to tether it to my HTC Rezound to get hotspot function. I have not been able to get it to function, as the phone still asks me to purchase the Verizon Hotspot. Of course, I am trying to avoid that, hence the Cradlepoint.

Short of rooting, does anyone know how I can make this work?

Short of using a usb cable or bluetooth you're probably won't have much luck. Maybe someone here has done it but I have not seen that.

I thought about trying it with my htc rezound and MBR1000. My Alltel unlimited plan and device will cease to function around March of next year and would like an alternative. I did purchase the unlimited hotspot but want the MBR1000 to extend the coverage of my signal but scared to try it. Think it will hurt the phone or router? Will use the data/charge cable to tether.
