This question comes up frequently. I believe the answer, and this is pretty hot is 85 centigrade. Now keep in mind this would be going back to the original Droid.Quote:

From what I understand 140F is thermal runaway on the battery (which is what you have to worry about before cpu). So as long as you stay below that you shouldn't have to worry about it. Cpu's are made to be able to withstand high temps.

Well the core can reach 60-70c (I believe) before the thermal load trips a hard reset, but the temp sensor is not directly touching the cpu core so you shouldn't gauge the threshold on those temps.
135 to 140 farenheit is a reasonable limit because the battery should be kept below 125 degrees to prolong battery life
