The answer is.... its subjective. They all have pros and cons.

    The RAZR, battery life.

The maxx, my gripe about the maxx is its lack of rigidity, but I knew about this when buying it. Also for the RAZR maxx, there is a spotting issue that you can only see in the dark with a black screen.

However you will love the battery life of the MAXX. Its the best there is. Its thin and wide.

Those are the two that I'm versed on. If I may, what are you looking for in your next phone?? That's more important to know than what we all think of said phones..... just trying to help. Hope ya find your answer

    EDIT

Bionic has turned into a pretty solid phone since the last ota. Some people have issues still... but lots of peoples issues were fixed I believe. Mine was fixed by the update.

Also the price of bionic and what it is for that price, has to make it pretty attractive. But the possibility of getting one of the malfunctioning devices also would detract from that.

If your wanting root-ability. Stay away from the bionic. Yes there are a couple of people left working on ROMs. But everyone has moved on to something else better. And the bootloader is locked. If you get the bigger battery it can go a day with a single charge with pretty good use. Im getting my wife a razer today maybe the maxx. Because she still has the OG droid which i will be taking from her because it was just an awesome phone. And ROMs were raining from heaven... lol....

All three are great phones. I currently have the RAZR Maxx but have also had the Gnex and Bionic. The Gnex is best if you are really into modding. It fell short in the data reception area for me. The Bionic is a solid device and for the current price can't be beat. I personally chose the Maxx for the stellar battery life and top notch motorola radios. Can't go wrong with any of them. Best thing to do is go to VZW and try all three out for yourself and see which one you like the best.

    Tap'd to the Maxx

What's the point of having a phone you can mod the heck out of if you never have data? The nexus is a failure IMO.

Any reason your not considering the rezound? Its HTC and unlocked so tons of rooms and mods. Its a nice phone too. Maybe not as sturdy as a moto but still pretty durable I'd think. Not too sure about battery life though

Gnex user here. Never had a problem with data here. Ever. My second choice was the razr, so I'd say the Maxx is just as good but for different reasons. The bionic is good but you can find one (and a razr) for cheap without upgrading. My local Craigslist has barely used razrs for 2-300 just because the Maxx made people feel outdated

I would take issue with this assessment, especially if you have a D2. I had an OG and upgraded to the GNex. I have had zero data issues. The problems with data that have been reported are generally in areas where reception was already spotty. If you are in an area with spotty coverage, not many phones are going to help. Compared to the Bionic, the GNex has much better data performance.

About the only real complaint I have is call quality. It's hard to beat a Moto device in that area. But, even then it's still pretty good
And, when you add the fact that it's a completely open and unlockable device, it's a hard device to beat. I couldn't be happier with the GNex.

When I was deciding what to purchase, I spent some time playing with the Razr. Very solid device. But, for me, it actually felt almost too thin. I couldn't ever feel comfortable holding it. I really, really like how the GNex feels. I was a little wary because of the flimsy back cover and exterior plastic. But, once the cover is locked in place, it feels very durable. It's almost possible to compete with Moto build quality, but the GNex is right up there, and almost even, IMO.

FWIW, you couldn't pay me to take a Bionic, with all the issues it has had and that screen - ugh... If modding is important to you, go with the GNex. If you just want root, i'd think you would be happy with either the GNex or Razr Maxx. Between those two, it just comes down to playing with each one and picking the one that, subjectively, feels best for you.

I take issue with what you're saying. You can't bash the Bionic reception any longer. .902 update fixed it for the vast majority. It's not near what it was. Also, the most recent update did wonders for battery life while on 4g.

A ton of Bionics had issues at first, but now it's rare. GREAT phone for the price. Also a word about the screen..... If you spend any time in the sun, you will LOVE the screen on the Bionic. A lot of Gnex users act like they plan to invite all their friend over to watch March Madness on their phone. In all reality, no one really is going to need a 1080p HD LCD cell phone screen. Don't get me wrong, a good screen is nice, but ultimately go with usability if you ever venture outdoors.

All that being said, I'd still recommend the Razr Maxx.

+1 from me on the Nexus. I've played with all of the phones and I like them all but I love the Nexus. Sooo smooth and tinker friendly! And this build quality issue.. what happens to phones when they get dropped? Do the internals break apart? No, the screens shatter. Does a Moto with "superior build quality" have any less of a chance to have it's display shatter? Not at all.
