VZW Rep/General Account Questions only.

I just got my Incredible 2 a week ago and I keep getting these really strange texts from a really strange number. (In, fact, when I tried to dial the number, my phone told me I was calling Turkey.) The messages are from 900080002021. All the messages start with "://BREW:0x0106185d:" and then some numbers - and they all end with "GreensboroAP:ms04:IMAP4:2809100." Can someone please tell me what this is and how I can stop it? Thanks!

This is usually caused by having had a feature phone previously and having yahoo IM on it. There are instructions on how to fix it at vzw.com/support or you can call technical support.

I can't find it on the VZW support site ... is there something I should be searching for? Sorry to be so ignorant!

I couldn't find it searching from my phone. Try responding with "stop". Also make sure your yahoo I'M is not associated with your phone. Another option is to reactivate your old phone and remove all apps.

I was going to update from my Droid to a Droid Pro today, then the guy told me that VZW charges $20 a month to use the Hot Spot feature on the phone. Is this true??

I have been able to upgrade since nov, 2 yrs was in march, but I am waiting till a phone comes out that I actually want, its really really frustrating how much later handsets get released on the vz network, and I am seriously debating just going with another carrier especially since the tiered data plans are looming large, would anyone rec. getting a crap phone to lock into another 2 yr and keep my unlimited plan and just bite the bullet and pay full price on the galaxy II (the phone I have my heart set on (now there's talk LTE can't fit in the slim nature of it... so idk what to do))...

I had a plan and was sticking with it as my D2 is more than fine for now but I have no idea what to do seeing that everything is speculation... I feel like I'm being "Belichicked" by verizon. I'm not gonna make a choice on a phone or a plan that bones me for 2 yrs...

any intelligent advice?

Well considering Verizon is the "ONLY" carrier left that doesn't have either tiered pricing or throttling after a certain amount, then the tiered scenario seems like an odd reason to switch.

As for phones, personally I'm waiting for the bionic regardless of tiered data.

Actually they don't have to honor their warranty if you purchase the phone somewhere else...you have to go to the store where you purchased the phone...yes I used to work for a verizon call center customer service on the phone.

I would be curious how long ago you worked for a VZW cal center and whether it was a Vendor or a Corporate call center.

First, I've been a Verizon customer for 5, almost 6 years. I have purchased my new phones wherever I pleased and have always had them warrantied through Verizon.

I've also worked in a Vendor VZW Tech Support Call Center for 7 Months and that hasn't ever been the policy in that time.

The only policy was for Worry Free Exchanges, or now the exchange/return policy. If not purchased through VZW you had to go back to the place of purchase during the first 30 days, now 14 days.

I worked for ACS from Nov 2008 till July 2009 so not long....I just remember trying to do warrantee replacement for third party phones and Supervisor's not letting me.

I have a question that maybe you can clear up for me. I was grandfathered in on an early upgrade over a month ago. I am trying to wait for the bionic which is getting harder every day. Anyways, my question is when I was in a VZW store, one of the sales reps was trying to get me to use my upgrade and he also said that if I was grandfathered in on an early upgrade that I might be able to get a one year upgrade. I didn't have time to let him check and there wasnt a phone I wanted then. I didn't think that was possible but I thought I would ask. Thanks

The system is designed now that if they buy a supported phone from any authorized third party they automatically get there warranty.
