Friend dropped phone in cooking oil.

OK I've told her a million times that keeping her phone in her bra wasn't a good idea..and now she went and let it slip out and right into a pot of cooking oil...what would be the best way to try and save it? for now I've got her to put it in rice but I dont know if it will work like it does w/water.

any other ideas?(other than dont keep your phone in your bra)

Are you trying to save the food or the phone? Your answer will depend how I answer this question.

IMO, explain to her she should NOT be wearing a bra and chalk this up as learning experience.

Let me know how it goes.

Cooking oil doesn't conduct electricity so it won't damage the phone by shorting the components like water does . You can actually submerge whole electronics , like computers , in oil for cooling purposes without damaging them . High power transformers are also using mineral oil for cooling . The only things that may be damaged by oil are contacts like keys or volume buttons because oil will block the electric contact , other than that it's just messy . If you don't want to open the phone to clean it , I think you can disolve the oil by submerging the phone in Isopropyl alcohol ( high purity Rubbing Alcohol ) , If the rubbing alcohol is not 100% pure and contains any trace of water you need to pull out the battery and let it dry for 3-4 days before using it again .
