    Sprint over Verizon?

1st off, don't go crazy, I'm a hard man to change. I have been a Verizon customer since I was 16 (17 years) and I have no issues. I do want a new phone though cause the D1 is rocking it old school. My work uses Sprint and I went in to get a new phone.. decided on the Moto M1, I1, sometheing like that... Uses version 1.5 of Googles OS's.. old school. Don't care though cause it's for work.

However, I had to wait about 20 minutes for the guy I needed to talk to. So, boredom kicked in and I started looking at their phones.... Correct me if I am wrong but Verizon has the Dinc, X, D2, and Thunderbolt. Over at Sprint, they had about 8 different models plus the Nexus phone thats coming soon. They also give me 4g at home which Verizon doesnt have yet.
It gave me pause about rocking Sprint to get the latest tech. Does anyone know how far off Verizon is in regards to new phones? I am a die hard VZW fan but Sprint made me wonder. I know the Tbolt just came out and the Bionic is coming soon but what else is out there that would spark my interest since neither of those phones appeal to me?
After going to Sprint, I was feeling blue about my D1 and it's screen size and speed.
Just thought I would vent/wonder about VZW and other options.

    Please sound off.

sprint does have a pretty nice lineup of phones and are very fair with their prices, we all know the Big Red can be a bit pricey. What your concern should be is coverage, how well is sprint covered in your area?

In terms of phone lineup, i know verizon is pretty picky about what they have on their shelves, they have alot of standards to meet from what I hear. Verizon has some great phones and there's definitely more to come, but in terms of release date, no idea.

The whole 4g plan is a bit of a toss up too as well. Who knows when they'll have it available for home, if at all.

Once my contract is up, I'm thinking seriously about switching to sprint. The number 1 thing for me is price and verizon is killing me. I also would like a Nexus S.

I have also thought about moving to Sprint, since they should have 4g coverage in my area pretty soon, while I think Verizon would take at least 12 more months (we are not on the list of planned cities for this year). I also use thier mobile internet (I got grandfathered with unlimited) and I have been extremely satisfied with the quality.

But Sprint's coverage seems way to skimpy for me. Looking at thier map it seems that once you get off the beaten path - you end up roaming, i.e. anything not near a big city or a major interstate. And I live in Michigan, so pretty much everything is off the beaten path here

If you don't travel outside of their coverage much, I would definitelly look into it (they have a greace period so you can check it out first). I can tell you that my Sprint mobile internet (with a 3-year-old usb modem) gets 80ms ping on average, while I get 250ms on average with Verizon (both 3g).

You should also check for discounts, which the staff don't often advertise, check for or know about. For example, I can get 10% off my monthly Sprint bill for being a BoatUS member, something the staff had no idea about

See the key though is what type of network are you really getting. Verizon's 4G LTE is true 4G. I know T-Mobile's isn't. Sprint I'm not sure about.

Verizon's netowork is by no means true 4g, only more advanced/fasted than T-Mobile's. But let's not start an argument over this, from the OP's post I gather that he could care less if he's on 4g or 3g anyways. Chances are, however, that if you don't live in a big metro, you would see Sprint 4g in your area months/years before you see Verizon 4g.

But again, it would boil down to your coverage needs, because Sprint's network coverage is light years behind Verizon's.

If Sprint works fine for the places you go you should definitely switch. They've got lower prices and better phones and WiMax is pretty fast.

^ This. Should always be the top concern unless you're into collecting expensive paperweights or you're fine relying heavily on WiFi.

Kinda, after seeing all the specs on phones coming out like the evo 3D and tmobile g2x I felt kinda envious lol. Still enjoying my phone though.
