    Droid 2 and Ford Sync

Anyone using Sync manage to find a way to get the droid to broadcast things like map directions and pandora ect through the USB connection instead of bluetooth audio inorder to get stuff long song titles and what not onto the Sync pannel?

    Droid and Ford Sync

My observation is that Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in are all isolated modes and only one may be active at a time.

Basically USB mode treats the Droid like an external hard drive. Searching by tag data is possible, and basic playback control are implemented. I seldom use this mode.

Bluetooth mode redirects anything that would normally play through the headphones, and provides limited playback control including phone call pause and recover. I use this mode extensively.

Aux / Line In mode is strictly a pre-amp input into the stereo. I have used this a few times.

Bluetooth modes is somewhate amusing in that I cant always predict whether it will auto-start my audiobook or play a song from via one of my music players. I thought it had something to do with the headphone connect settings within the apps, but as I said , I still have occasional surprises.

I really like Ford Sync in my 2010 F-150 ... even if it does say Microsoft on the dash tag <grin>

    Happy day

Not sure but I think if you say to Sync "Bluetooth Audio", it will open up whatever was the last thing that was playing on your phone.

Has anyone figured out a workaround for turn-by-turn voice navigation to work with Sync? Doesn't work--can't hear any navigational directions. Imagine my surprise when I removed my D2G from the car dock and suddenly my phone started giving me audio navigation aids! I've heard if you turn off the bluetooth feature on your phone you will be able to hear the turn-by-turn instructions via the phone's speaker. But that defeats having a hands-free phone call feature. (I also have a 2010 Ford F150).
I don't care what it is, when it has an LCD screen, it makes it better.

That Pandora feature is available starting with the 2011 Ford Fiesta.

Ford SYNC® connects you to Pandora® inside the new 2011 Ford Fiesta | Ford Depot

yea if you use bluetooth audo function of sync it does the turn by turn nav and what not. Newer sync models seems to have more functionality avaliable as well as someone else just mentoned. sadly i got in on the ground floor so ill have to wait till i upgrade it seems

OMG i know thatr thing about it autoplaying music is annoying as fuk, i took all my mp3s off the phone cause of that. even if i ever played music at all since the last reboot soon as i hang up the phone i get the music to start playing...

Can you elaborate? Are you saying it is possible to have turn-by-turn nav play over your vehicle's stereo system via bluetooth?

Yes. With a ford sync for sure anyway. I suspect with any bluetooth system. From what i can tell the phone will use a paired bluetooth device to transmit the sound normally going to the phone speaker if its on. With sync if you select bluetooth audio for the speaker input then you can get any sound going out of the phone speaker to goto the bluetooth speaker instead. There is some configuration options in the audio settings menu but my phone did this by default
