Battery life , what to expect.

I put a little blurb in another post I have , indicating I get around 1.5 days of battery charge from Droid X, and pyro replied 1.5 is amazing. is this for real.
does having a smart phone mean your battery is only good for a day and ahalf. It is what it is , but kinda surprised me battery life is so short, even when not using the phone. Is there a battery saver mode that I am missing out on, or don't know how to set yet. new and learning something new here every day.

That's pretty good battery life for a smartphone with no extended battery or system modifications. They require so much power to run, and for many users (myself included) it's difficult to put the darn phone down long enough to maintain a charge.

I just got Droid 2 Global the other day. And by nature I always had a back up battery for my BB, and i think I will have to with this one. Not sure if the extended battery is better, but if we use this phone the way we do it will have to be looked into. Hate to be caught hen battery goes and no way to recharge.

I now have an X, and a day and a half is about right for me.

I previously had an original Droid and had to charge it every day.

1.5 is good; don't know about your usage is like though. A lot of people forget that on a dumb phone you do dumb things so the battery life is typically better. My battery is toast everyday but it's because I'm doing more.

There are a number of battery saving strategies out there and what is and what isn't effective really depends on your specific usage. The best way to tackle battery life is to look at your particular usage and address the battery hogs. It does little good to randomly apply fixes.

36 hours is good for a smart phone. Tips to help battery life.

    1) Lower screen brightness to the lowest level you can live with.
    2) Lower the screen timeout amount to the least amount you can live with
    3) Turn off WiFi and GPS when not in use.

These 3 things will help greatly!
