Block unwanted SMS or Calls?

Formally had an LG Dare which had an option to block all calls/sms from anyone who wasn't in my contacts list. Is there a way to allow for this exact configuration?

I'm shocked that this isn't a stock option, as it is on many other phones.

Anyone with any tips?

I add the number to the contacts. When viewing the contact under menu you can view options. There is an option to automatically fwd calls to voicemail. I also have a youmail.com account where I customized my voicemail greeting. The nice thing it syncs your contacts from gmail or your phone I forgot which one. Anyways when these select numbers call me they get the

"Welcome to AOL, Para espanol push 9"

I'm not sure about restricting the non-contacts calls on the phone itself. I have looked for it also.

I don't know about blocking sms either.

try 91 panda firewall, there is an option to accept calls only from your contacts

ive had it downloaded for about 2 weeks now, but havent really had the chance to test it out...

but from the comments it seems like it should work pretty well. let me know how it works

edit1: from the new comments, it looks like it doesnt work on droid, people are getting foreclose. i havent had that happen yet. but then again, i dont have anyone in my filter list

edit2: looks like some guy named wang made some changes and posted to google code. not sure if he works for netdragon websoft inc.

Get Android Firewall from the Market. It will do exactly what you are looking for. You can block unknown, not in contacts, based on wildcards, based on day/time of day, and more. Blacklists and Whitelists are also supported.

I use gblocker. You can customize it anyway that you want, such as blocking any number on your blacklist, blocking from numbers not in your contacts, unknown numbers, private numbers, etc..
