I have only used openhome, pandahome and home++ beta. I really like the stability of home++ beta. It seems to be pretty fast. One thing I don't like about home++ is that it goes to landscape sometimes when plugging in the USB or unplugging and you have to wait for it to go back to portrait. Other than that I like the toolbar at the bottom and that you can get rid of the notification screen at the top. I never liked the drag down feature of the notification bar. Now with Home++ I just quick press the i icon at the bottom and my notification window comes up quickly. I like!

I use GDE and Home ++. Lately I have been having some Force Closes on both. I dont know why because they usually worked flawless for me. I love GDE for transitions and thr Obsidian Theme is amazing for to me. BUT when I cannot get the GDE messaging widget to work lately its not updating dunno why. Home ++ is great and simple. But that has been laggy for me. I dont think its the home replacements themselves but an app I have installed.

I also have Open Home but I never use it. I dont like the slide outs (just my preference)

I'm currently playing with GDE, Home++ and Panda Home. Panda Home was my favorite, but I thought I'd give GDE more of a chance.

I rarely, if ever, had a FC with Panda Home. GDE FC's when I want to do something as simple as change the background. I only used Home++ a few times. It seems nice, but I had a problem getting some widgets to work with it, and I don't like that it doesn't have any type of docking system like the side docks in Panda Home and the application docks in GDE.

All-in-all, I'd have to say that I'm happy, enough, with GDE to continue using it (for now). I still prefer Panda Home overall, but I am quite attached to GDE's application docks at the moment. I could live w/o the fancy transitions, but I won't give up my docks!

If Panda Home adds some better docks and gets rid of the ugly app tray button, then I'd probably switch back to PH because I feel that it's the least buggy of them all.

nice to know... I'll still keep Home++ even with 2.1 and it's 5 screens because I like the hidden notification bar and the power strip.

plus I don't wanna root my Droid... coming from the Storm I'm sooo happy I have a phone that just works. I'm trying to curb my OS obsession

GDE is the best by far. I havent had a since FC since the latest update (knock on wood)

I would simply slap a few on at the same time, and then try them out.

Im using GDE with an iPhone skin. Makes all those losers on ATT wish they had an "iPhone" as cool as mine.

by the way, i did a side by side race on downloading a file with some friends. It was my Droid in first for speed of download followed by an iPhone 3GS and then an iPhone 3G. I did beat them by a good 15 secs at least. So, that new ATT commercial is a bunch of B.$.

I like Home++ the best. A few FCs here and there, but they are few and far between.

Home++ is definitely the way to go. It supports animated widgets, something I don't think any other home screen replacement does. Excellent and unique idea, just need some people to start creating them!

Also, does anyone notice their phone slowing down with Home++? I feel like mine has and I don't know if it's from the 120+ apps I have, the 7 screens with a ton of widgets on it, or Handcent SMS. With 7 home screens and alot of apps and widgets on them, I remember it running completely fine and I'm wondering if Handcent is slowing everything down. Any ideas?

Use Home++, and it has occasional stability issues. They release updates pretty frequently, though, to add things and fix bugs, so I've stuck with them.
