    Exporing Games to emulator

I am wondering if anyone has had any luck exporting their memory cards from the .psx4doid/ folder and loading them up using epsxe or another emu? if so could you let me in on your secret? When i go to look at my memory card files they are empty in every file i try, but when i go back in to psx4droid and load my save games, they show up. so psx4droid is saving them somewhere (and im not talking about the state save btw) or at least its able to recognize its own memory card files, but everywhere i have read it says use an emulator to load them up...without any real specification on what emu to use or how they did it, and the conversion apps {MemoryConverter, and PSXGameEdit} do not see the saves on the memory card either.
    thanks for any help

    Droid X
This may have been asked several times, but I couldn't find it.

I have a Droid X and it is on version 2.2.

I am having difficulty getting both Breath of Fire 3 and 4 to work on my device. I have the bios in the correct folder, I have tried both games in .bin and eboot and both have the same problem.

What happens is, for instance BoF4, it starts up, even goes to the opening cinematic and then to the start menu. Then it prompts you what you want to name your character, after you confirm his name, the game completely stops and goes to the game selection menu in my PSX ROM folder.

BoF3 does the same thing, after you start a new game.

I don't think it should be a problem on my end, I have tested it out with Brave Fencer Musashi and Arc the Lad 3 and they both worked perfectly fine. But who knows it could be me.

If anyone has a solution to this, I would be most grateful.

Anybody else try out the Rom Buddy for PSX? I keep getting an error message telling me to check space on my SD card.

The game will be fresh clip. I have not mine, but I can see the use definetey. I'll keep it in my computer bag anyway, it goes everywhere I GO.A playstation emulator would be nice to have on my phone. And for everyone wondering if I could really cope with it, I've been following this project, OpenPandora, for some time and has very similar specifications to the Droid. I know because I really ps1 emulator is running to fast for her, they have not made the leap from the picture, I still believe, although I can be wrong about that. As always have a N64 emulator apparently its much more difficult to develop a play station emulator N64 emulator.

Therev29: greate guide but unfortunately all the "Speed improvements" aren't true, to me at least.

I have a Motorola Milestone with android 2.1, rooted and overclocked at 800mhz.

Overclocking to 1.2ghz doesn't improve the framerate.... turning the sound off doesn't help...... compressing iso to pbp doesn't help..... I wish there was an option to show FPS because I would record a video to justify me

1.1 is the fastest so far.....

So I tested a few new games (I am getting a consistent 80% compatibility with games I test now and most of the games which do not work are CDDA which is being worked on by the dev)

If you are having conflicting issues with any of the above games on 1.5 try reinstalling the app from scratch rather than updating AND do not use old save states.

I may have Parasite Eve 2 working past the published by screen soon

    Gran Turismo 1: works

Gran Turismo 2: Both discs work

Beyond the Beyond : as others have stated works

Eternal eyes: As others have stated works

Medal of Honor 1 and 2(underground): Both work

Wing Commander 3: Did not work freezes after sound crashes in start of game. Cut scenes have no sound.

    Testing today:

Alone in the Dark the New Night mare, Dragon Valor, Dragon Warrior 7, Driver 2.

For the complete list of what I have tested see below:

Alone in the Dark 2 ( Works no problems about 80 % speed)

Arc the Lad 1-3: All Run just fine

Civilization 2: Works no problems whatsoever

    Alundra-No Issues

    Azure Dreams-No Issues

    Gran Turismo 1: works

Gran Turismo 2: Both discs work

Beyond the Beyond : as others have stated works

Eternal eyes: As others have stated works

Medal of Honor 1 and 2(underground): Both work

X-Com UFO Defense: Works. Note kinda hard to find a working ROM for this. It also does not have CD music in it because of how PSX4droid runs which makes the EBOOT 57MB (smallest one I have seen) People who love this game test it and tell me if it works...cause I have no idea how to play this game. I got to some globe thing and it was trying my patience BUT it is in the IGN top 100 games list so I want it on my phone to learn one day

Brave Fencer Musashi- I have not issues on night or day levels and it runs at decent speed

Breath of Fire 3- No issues

Breath of Fire 4- No issues and menu does not cause game to freeze or go black for me

    Dino Crisis 1- No issues

    Dino Crisis 2- No issues

    Red Alert: Works great

    Fear Effect- No issues

    Fear Effect 2- No issues

FF7- No issues and submarine issue is fixed

FF8- Garden moves now but over world is still very slow but game is playable.

FF9- Game only freezes in disc 1 at the dali airship now. Confirmed from Slighmd the game is playable 100% from there on crash free. man up and learn how to use the PSX on your PC and just by pass that until Zodttd fixes it.

    Final Fantasy Tactics- No issues

    Grandia- No issues

Hoshigami ruining the Blue Earth- No issues

    Dune 2000: Works good

Bushido Blade 1+2: Works just find one that is not half screen

    Hot Shots golf- No issues

    Jade Cocoon- No issues

    Legend of Dragoon- No issues

Mech Warrior 2 31st century combat: Pal version works downloaded one which had .ape files seperated and deleted them. Will not work as Eboot Bin only

Legend of Legaia- Still freezes the first time you learn an arts move; this is only a problem with Vahn. Play the intro on PC and you can play the rest of the game from there. Just be careful when learning new moves or using hyper arts but VERY doable

    Lunar 1- No issues

    Lunar 2- No issues

    Parasite Eve 1- No issues

    Resident Evil 1- No issues

    Resident Evil 2- No issues

    Resident Evil 3- No issues

    Silent Hill- No issues

Star Ocean 2- No issues. Starting as the guy game makes annoying buzz sound until you save at first save point and then reload from memory card

    Tales of Destiny- No issues

Tales of Destiny 2- No issues

    Tomb Raider 3-5: work

Twisted Metal 1-4: work; recommend altering Controls

Vagrant Story : Works Now AI do load !!!!

Vandal Hearts 1 and 2: Both work

Wild Arms 1 and 2: Both work

    Xenogears: Works

Driver 1 and 2: both work

    Warcraft 2: works

Riven: Surprisingly works seeing how Myst did not...

    Tenchu: works

    Rayman 2: works

    Einhander: works

Suikoden 1 and 2: Both work

    Baulder's Gate : works

Valkryie Profile: I got this to work. For the intro to the game you need to use the PC PSX emulator trick. It freezes randomly during conversation which has voice overs. However majority of the time is ok. Once you get control of a character (Angrhiem) you can save and then play on from your phone. I played for a good 2 hours with no problems. Ovbiously this may happen again but if so just do the PC/PSX emulator swap and you can still play the majority of the game on your phone

    GAMES THAT DO NOT WORK:

    1. Front Mission 3 (trying to see if there is a PC PSX emulator work around for this) (PSP emulators barely even run this)
    2. Rayman 1 (usess CDDA)(Dont bother getting this on PSX4droid you can get it for GBA with same exact graphics !!!!)
3.Tomb Raider 1- Wont work CDDA not supported
4.Tomb Raider 2- Wont work CDDA Not supported
    5. Croc wont work uses CDDA
    6. Metal Gear Solid (CDDA issue as well I think not for sure...)
    7. Parasite Eve 2 (note very hard to emulate because of strange video coding)
    8. Metal Slug X character select screen freezes game
    9. Tekken 3 (too slow to be enjoyable) (May be fixed when Android 3.0 comes out)
    10. Thousand Arms (ground is black and game freezes shortly in)
    11. Mortal Combat Trilogy (CDDA game) Plus that series is boring :P
    12. Wing Commander 4 does not work. It loads ok but during intro movies it stutters a ton and then eventually freezes
    13. Soviet Strike: Sadly does not work. Also has the CDDA issue. It gets to a EA logo and then freezes while it loops sound.
    14. Wing Commander 3. freezes after talking to someone..sound loops looks like another CDDA issue

I test all of my games by at least testing the core functions in the game. For example combat, menu selection FMV sequences, ETC. I do not have the time to play through the entire game, however I beleive if you can get into the actual game engine to the first save point the game is "Playable" because you are able to jump between a PC PSX emulator to by pass any issues. Most games I have noticed the errors are far and few in between so it does not hamper you too much.

All the games I am testing are games I want (besides MK Trilogy :P). Let me know if anyone has suggestions as I almost have every title I was hoping to get. Now I just have to wait for 64 GB Micro SD cards or larger !

Also I omitted testing some games such as Nuclear Strike because they have a N64 counter part or in some cases a GBA counter part! I recommend using one of those because they are more reliable than our huge bulky img and bin files for PSX and take up a fraction of the space. My best success with this is Rayman which is perfectly playable on GBA and does not work on PSX

Always feel free to email me if you have any suggestions or new finds contrary to my list.

The toughest games to debug are the ones which freeze at the "Published by" screens like Parasite Eve 2 because I cannot test these on a PC PSX emulator. I have tried using several tools to "RIP" those out of the game file to see if I can at least get to a memory card load screen but to little avail. I am not skilled enough at hacking these ROMs to do it. If anyone knows how to do this please find such titles on my list and give it a go.

Also Check out SCUMMVM for Android 2.0 is in beta and not on the market but google it and you will find the .APK file. It works great for games like Day of the Tentacle. Also allows me to play Broken Sword 1 and 2 and save some space as they are smaller than the .EBOOT files for PSX4Droid. Supposedly Myst and Riven will be supported over SCUMMVM in the future which would allow for more space and an alternative for Myst since it does not work on PSX4droid ATM

I have a request as well to any one who may be in the know. There is supposedly a never released Fallout port for the PSX. If anyone can find it or know where to get it I would be very happy ! The Baulder's Gate PSX version I found is a similar case and can be found in the SNESoRama forums for anyone interested.

Updated list of PSX games I have working in 1.5 on my N1 with default Bios running 2.2. all using 30 FPS setting. Overall the speed is the same or faster than 1.1 for me and I am very happy with the update.

Note Games with CDDA will not work.

Note games with multiple discs may or may not allow you to progress. If they allow you to save at the disc change screen it is no problem but some just tell you to insert without saving. These you will need to use your computer to change discs until a swap disc or insert disc option is added

If you still have issues send me a save state of the game you are having problems with and see if I get the same issue (trevormaina.hayes@gmail.com).

1.5 is not twice slower than 1.1 it is somewhat slower but slight I would say 5%. If you are loading from old save states then the most likely reason it is so slow is because the save states are corrupt. USE MEMORY CARD SAVE STATES

Sound on the other hand is very slow. You can somewhat fix this by changing the sound to mono in game mode

You are correct I have seen no improvements by disabling sound in options

Bof4 and Bof3 both work in 1.5 I have had no problems playing them now.

To transfer memory cards to and from your phone to PC Just check your .psx4droid folder on your SD card.

The "Mcd1000" are the cards. use them in a PC PSX emulator with the same name and format. (PSxfin i the the best cause it uses the cards as they are in your phone)

If you need more detailed help on swapping email me.

I also just tested the following this morning

Dragon Valor : works looks like a fun game

    Driver 2: Works without issue

Alone in the Dark the New nightmare: Works and is kinda hard to fine.

Dragon Warrior 7: does not work. Loads only half way can only see the background. Trying to see if I can work around it. I got through the naming part which I could not see on my phone by using a PC PSX emulator. Once you gain control of your character though the game's pixels explode into green and you cant see. I am sending a save state to the dev
