Thank you Droid, Google, Microsoft Sync

Ever since I received the updated Android, it's been all good.

    Before update:

-My droid home screen was not nice.

-I had the iPhone before and I liked it because of all the cool things the iPhone had done. But AT&T sucks. Why offer service if they don't let us call out. So I dropped
that A#@. Droid did not compare in terms of looks but I had to get a phone service that works.

    -It was somewhat buggy.

    After the update:

-I have a HP Touchsmart 300 and I listen to my music wirelessly through the bluetooth. I put the iPhone and Bose dock on the floor underneath my desk. LOL. Goodbye Apple. Why? When I receive a phone call I just talk to them on my computer speaker. The Bose dock can't do that, nor can a computer have phone service, and I'm not talking about Skype.

-This is the best part, when I drive my 2010 Lincoln MKS, as soon as I get in the car, music plays from my Droid via bluetooth, no more freakin wires. SICK!!! Pandora, radio music, etc. My droid didn't work in the car before the update. I don't know why. But since the update it worked with the Microsoft SYNC.

-My homepage is a lot better now with all the cool weather, date, time widget.

-The cool music widget; I can turn off the music while at the gym. Before I had to open to music app to turn down volume or turn off the music. It was frustrating. Now music widget is on my home screen. A lot easier.

I can go on, but thank you DROID, GOOGLE, Microsoft Sync, HP, Lincoln, Ford etc for all working together with Bluetooth etc. Life is getting easier by the day. I am officially a geek. I did get an iPad this week, but if Google release an ipad tv where I can talk to people on tv and see them on tv, I'll go buy it. Imagine a 50 inch iPad: Netflix, phone service, apps, internet etc on your tv. That's like the best entertainment package ever!!!

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE UPDATE!!! Finally, happy with the DROID!!!

Thats the best thing I have heard in weeks. Bluetooth audio went out on my 2010 escape 3 weeks ago and hasn't come back. If what you say is true I should be back in business as soon as I get the Update. Thanks for brightening my Droid outlook on life............ Here's hoping

Same here- 2010 Escape. Worked fine for a month or so then, nothing. Can't get it back. Tried Master reset on Sync and re-added all. Bluetooth phone works but not audio even though it says it is on. I contacted Sync on this and they swear it is the phone. They said there is nothing they can do since I unpaired, master-reset and repaired with still no audio. So I guess I blame Verizon Droid or Android. I am still not convinced but can only test if I can get another person with a droid to try it in my Escape. It was been 3 weeks now or so when it stopped working.

Mine worked on my 2010 F150 no problems via BT before and after. I have never had any problems.

Have you tried to update the firmware of your Sync??? I did that on day one after bringing the truck home.

Being I got it only a few months ago I did check on the sync site and it said it has the latest firmware. The only download available was the status checker- which I will download now just to be safe.

Also, to add to the what is failing argument- Verizon Motorola Droid, Android 2.1, or Microsoft Sync - I tried a buddy's phone and the sync connected to phone audio but it refused to connect to "media audio" as was checked in the Bluetooth options on the Droid. I tried turning the car off and on, disabling the BT and readding but never got sync to "Find" the device when choosing BT Audio. It says connecting... for minutes and then says no device found. I unpaired and removed "sync" from my phone again after this test. Re-added it and the Droid says - bluetooth audio (it started it up automatically) the Sync also said bluetooth audio and seemed like it would be playing, but no sound and I tried several songs again. If I disconnect the bluetooth it immediately starts playing music on my Droid and also on the sync it goes to USB. So I have tried every scenerio I can think of and at the end of the day I am no closer to figuring out what is to blame. I guess the only thing would be to find another Bluetooth media device (not a Droid) to try to pair while at the Ford dealer, and see if it works. The way it will often not connect to the BT Media- when I say connect to device ("device not found") I am thinking this is a purely a sync issue. Ford Sync tech support said if I did a master reset and whatnot- it isn't the sync to blame. That guy also said a few people who work there have Droids and they work fine.

This is no fun trying to troubleshoot.

Here's an interesting little bit of info..........I just got done talking to a Ford Sync person and they told me that the latest firmware update will not fix the problem and they are in the testing process right now of figuring out what 2.1 did to the sync. They blame Verizon. I guess we can blame someone what the heck. A firmware update will be released in a few days that will try to correct the problem. I told them I had the problem before the update and others too.

    Jeff,
Can I have the bose dock? If it's just sitting under your desk, I can put it to some good use. Seriously.

    Angry Not the Phone!

I confirmed that the Droid itself can, in-fact, still stream BT audio. I borrowed a buddy's MOTOROKR™ S9 and they worked perfectly. In fact, I now want them.

So this is creating a stronger case that it is a sync issue.

Weird thing again, synce can connect to the droid in BT audio mode, it says it is connected, and when I un-check the media audio in the "options" of the sync connection, the sync immediately connects to the USB stick for audio and the connection says disconnected. Also the phone resumes playing the audio on itself. When I turn back on the media audio for the sync connection it sometimes struggles to find it again when I choose "system-settings" connect bluetooth and choose droid. That is where it will often hang and say connecting... for minutes before saying no bluetooth device found (even though the phone is still paired and functions fine.)

The BT audio feature is called A2DP I found with some digging, so I'm thinking that is where the specific issue is. There is a thread on that although not related to sync.
music player auto-starts with every BT A2DP connection?!?!

I am going to borrow another person's Droid here at work to see if that works or not on my sync again.

I have a buddy with iPhone so I should try that also just to see if it is ANY BT audio device or just Droids. Would be the full gamut if I can find someone here with a HTC or something not on android 2.1 or 2.0.1 (since my issue started with 2.0.1).

OH I almost forgot to mention I have seen some threads about the Voice privacy setting and noticed mine is ON so I turned it off and I will try it out at lunch to see if this has any affect.

hey your really getting closer to solving who's the culprit here, nice research.
I'm heading to Ford on Friday and their going to try different phones etc and see where that leads. I'll keep you posted.
