Is that information even stored anywhere on the Droid?
I just looked around my Settings menus and could not find any place where I would have entered a phone owner's name. Are they maybe asking for the name of one of your synced accounts like Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Exchange, etc?
Also, why do they need this information, could you tell us what app this is?
I have never had any app ask for any info when purchasing. Are you doing this from the market?

This sounds phishy...
I have to agree with mantis5, this sounds like phishing.
What site are you trying to purchase the app from?
The Google Marketplace NEVER asks for any information though you are required to set up an account before buying anything.
offTopic - congratulations to mantis5 for post number 100...
This sounds a lot more like the first purchase with the credit card and "enter the cardholders name as it appears on the card"
There is no owners name that appears on the phone
