Interacting With Android Phone On PC/Mac

Oh boy, it's been a while since I dropped since these woods, but seems that I need help from one of my favorite android forums.

What I am trying to do is to be able control/steam my android phone (droid 4) on my pc or mac (own both).

I know there are different services that allow you to wirelesly transfer content such as AirDroid but they do not allow you to open/interact with apps.

FPS is not a major issue for me so as long as it works at a decent pace, i am fine.

If rooting my phone (droid 4) is needed, it's not an issue, but I HAVE NEVER ROOTED, so some help regarding a nice user friendly tut on rooting will be helpful.
