    Android malware

I'm due for an upgrade and I'm looking to get a high end android phone. After some research I foun that using an android phone gives you the opportunity to download apps that may be harmful malware. Are there any ways to protect against this? Has goggle been akin any steps to help sucure the android market? I my phone was to get a virus is it possible to have it removed?

Malware is my biggest concern with purchasing an android phone any feedback is appreciated.

Every app you download has permissions listed before you install it, so if you're downloading a game and it want access to every feature of your phone, you can simply not install it.
removing malware is pretty easy, if it's not as simple as uninstalling the app you can easily factory reset the phone. There's also a ton of antivirus apps, not sure if they actually work, but they're there.

Malware is pretty much the biggest scare on android but most people that know a fair amount android phones aren't too worried. Anytime an app is found to be malicious Google has a way to remove it from the market and every phone that has it installed remotely. There are VERY few malicious apps on the market, and if you do see one the ratings will most likely be offsetting enough that you won't install it. The most common problem isn't malicious apps its poorly made apps, apps that eat up battery life and slow down your phone or cause problems due to unintended incompatibilities. That i know of (and i pay attention to this kind of thing) there have only been 5 or so truly malicious apps. And they have all been removed from the market and red flagged all over the internet.

You can also read comments about an app before you choose to buy and/or install it. Chances are if its malicious or doesnt work someone has posted about it.

What u should also remember is downloading 3rd party apps not within the market. Like it was mentioned every app has permissions that only u can give access too. When in doubt, don't download it. U dont need an anti virus installed on ur device. All it does is drain ur battery. Just be cautious is what we can recommend

I'd like to point out that i didn't mean to make it seem like it's a non-issue and you don't need to worry about it but it's not as big of an issue as the media sometimes makes it out to be. And if you know what to look for its easy to avoid.
