Backup Droid 2 Application and Data to SD Card.

I got my Verizon Droid 2 as a gift from Adobe MAX 2010 from LA.

It has been wroking fine until Yesterday it got into a boot loop problem.

I was able, with the help of a previous thread, to perform hard-reset, and bypass Verizon Activation since I am in a place that does not have Verizon service.

Now, I lost all programs and setting I had since last October 2010. But, not big deal, since I was not using this phone as my main device, becuase some how I did not trust it will be reliable since it was a gift. My main phone now is HTC Touch Pro (not so exciting, but reliable, so far since 2 years)

Now, I will start over, but I want to be ready for the next and similar problem, where my Droid 2 will crash.

    I have the following questions:

    1. What may have caused this boot loop problem ?

    2. How to avoid it next time ?

    3. I was using Palm TX Before and a fee program called NVBackup. I need to find similar program for my Droid 2 where it allows me to backup my Data + Programs in incremental order to the SD Card (backup changes) using backup sets. Any suggestions ? I think the existing backup solution needs Verizon Service, right ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Tarek.

Titanium backup for the win. See my sig for D2 to see how to use it best. This is for apps and data.....a full ROM backup would give you everything and you can do that through Clockwork which I also walk through in that thread.

With Titanium you can set schedules for backups as well as manual backups. It recognizes new versions and allows option for just those. Check it out. There is a free version as well as a paid. I prefer the paid but would recommend you take the freebie for a test drive.

But....this is only if you are rooted.....are you? If not and you are interested....again....follow the links in my sig.

What is the added value if I root my phone ?

I read in other threads that if something goes wrong while rooting, then your phone my be damaged and may not be recovered.
