Fastest way to get camera going

I have the icon on my desktop and that is pretty fast but I have to be doing something wrong when pressing the button on the side of the phone because it just makes a strange noise and takes forever. Sometimes it doesn't even start.

Also is there any way to get camcorder button on the desktop?

the "strange noise" is the camera trying to focus, the camera is a little slow, esp in low light, no direct launch option that i see yet, might be able to have one made

not to be a smarta$$, but did you try the 'push and hold' on the camera button on the side. It makes a noise but then starts the camera. Mine starts immediately that way.

my camera was messed up and I had to replace phone it's excellent now
but yes hold button a bit and wait a bit
