User Friendly GPS

I am a new smart phone user and am using a Droid X. I am looking for a user friendly GPS app. Yes i am aware of the Google app on the phone however i do not have the ability to pick my route (the shortest route is not always the fastest). The stock app seems to work fine once I get close to the route I want to be on. My 2nd issue is i do not have the ability to use waypojnts (known location I visit often). so is there an add on or another app to do these things? thanks in advance for all the help.

On my evo google maps i can select between multiple routes. Menu -> Route Info -> Reroute button, looks like two arrows going to a destination icon -> Select route by touching wanted road or by selecting the route at the top.
