    Phone Protection if lost

I have a few apps (banking and billing) that I would not like to get into the hands of a "finder" of my phone.
Is there an app that locks only certain apps to password?
Is there an app that if I call my phone it will lock it down?

I use mobile defense. It uses cell towers and GPS to find your phone. You can also wipe your phone remotely.

As Hook said, Mobile Defense is my personal favorite, but alternatives include iTag and WaveSecure.

I personally would refrain from using any banking app that stores the password. That's just asking for trouble.

Yep, I use mobile defense for the reasons stated above, if phone was lost or stolen. I also have app protector pro, which allows you lock any apps you don't won't people (girlfriend) to see, for when someone wants to "check out your phone". Have a look at both of them. Combined, they pretty much have you covered.

I'm using Lookout, which also comes with an anti-virus.

I have already downloaded App Protector and used it for its 7 day period and it was okay.
I am trying AppLock (free). AppLock seems pretty nice and I like the numeric keypad better than the default "Pattern Lock" used by App Protector..
For tracking and remote control I am looking at WaveSecure but it has a short 7 day trial period.

WaveSecure lets you control your phone with text messages so you can use a friend's phone to lock your phone down. You have to use a computer with Mobile Defense. +1 for WaveSecure.

MD tracks the location of your phone by using Google Maps and gives you the current address your phone is at (within the accuracy of your GPS). WS tries to do this but does not give you an address. This may be because they are sending you text messages from Singapore. Also, I believe the tracking is live once you connect to your phone from the website so you can see the phone on the move. WS tracks the location of your phone with each individual request and isn't constant. +1.5 Mobile Defense.

As far as I know there is no wipe for MD for now. +2 for WaveSecure because wipe is a HUGE deal. And with wipe WS also has backup and restore.

WS uses a software lock screen that displays a custom message you choose. Hitting the "Home" button will temporarily close that lock screen for 2/3 seconds but that lock screen will come back. MD uses your pattern lock. They claim this is more secure in that a software lock can be bypassed if you start your phone is safe mode. I have not tested if specifically the software lock for WS is indeed bypassable with a safe mode boot. For now I call this a draw.

Battery: I actually have both MD and WS installed on my phone and there is no battery drain from having both. Tie for this one.

Cost: WS is $20 a year. MD is free because it is still in beta. Can't give a rating here because I don't know how much MD will charge in the future

I don't use iTag so I don't know how good it is but from reviews on the Market it seems like it is a massive battery drain.

    AppLock has few bugs.
I turn it off and it shows turned off but it keeops coming back.

How do you erase notifications? WHen you change the AppLock password it shows it in a notification and will not go away when I click on the notification.????

Why haven't you checked out mobile defense?

    https://www.mobiledefense.com/

It's free and I would say the best one, not to mention it'll lock your phone and require a password which you can set while you remotely lock it.

it let's you know if a sim was changed (would apply to gsm phones)

you can backup and then wipe the phone (coming with 2.2)
