Let's get serious about the Market.

Or I should say, Google, please get serious.

The featured section is a joke and never changes.
There is no good way to see New Apps that are featured.

The "just in" section is bogged done by showing us which apps were just updated. I want to see Brand New Apps.

Does anyone know if 2.1 makes ANY changes to the Market? I know they don't change what I am asking for above (or at least I am pretty sure), but is there any hope that Google cares?

I also would like to see more categories.

Lastly, who here thinks now that The App Store has banned 6,000 apps or so that those developers will now storm the Market? Not that I am promoting this idea because, yeah, just what we need--more crap. But did this cross the mind of anyone else? Surely these dev's need to make a living and they know Google has less restrictions.

Googles not apple. i forsee the market changing (google becoming more strict about what it lets into the market) but now its more of a numbers thing.

I doubt 2.1 will change anything with the market and what it has to offer.

If you want some good apps, read some of the threads on here.
Or choose a genre and then pick top paid or top free to see what everyones downloading

For a company that changed the nature of search engines... the searchability of the market is pitiful.

as in, it's not open source (if that's what you meant). someone can't just go in and make the Market better...

... unless you meant it's wide open to devs... that's a diff story.
