Any comments and recommendations on which golf GPS is best? Is it "Golf Card"?
I would just check their ratings in the Market and read the user comments....then weigh out the pros and cons of what you can find about each one....
You can also go to Androlib.....it gives reviews I think of apps
I've tried a couple and like FreeCaddie the best, it's got most of the courses I've looked for and it gives you distances to the front, middle and back of the green.
One concern for using the Droid as a golf distance finder is that the accuracy on a GPS tester is rarely under 30 feet, so I'm not sure how useful it is. But given the price (free), it's worth it.
I don't want to put the score into a computer, so that hasn't been a consideration for me. No, I haven't tried Golf Card, do you have an interest in the program?
Right now I'm in the process of trying "TeeDroid Caddy" and "How Far Am I." TeeDroid has been really good for me so far, GPS, scorekeeping, shot keeping (distances, club used, where landed). Anyone golfing should at least try this one out. How Far Am I looks good, but I haven't used it much since it doesn't have as many of the courses in my area and I'm too busy to add them right now. It's more of a standard rangefinder app. They are both FREE. With TeeDroid, I actually shut off GPS between shots and holes when I could while leaving the app running in the background. It seemed to save battery (I used a GPS toggle on the Power Manager widget and then long pressed the home key to jump back and forth). Good luck, let me know what you think.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I have nothing to compare it to, but the distances seem very accurate, so if nothing else I can get good readings on my approach shots.
