(that's why I was not able to use 'Plan B' on my stolen phone. First thing after it got stolen I called my phone carrier to report it stolen, they disactivated the SIM card immediately. So... any apps that require to send SMS to the phone to activate tracking are not really usefull, correct? )
- does not drain the battery and doesn't use much memory / ram
- preferred free, but wouldn't mind paying, if there is one super app, that does all what I need.
So far I tested and installed Androidlost.com, but I'm not too happy with the user interface (no maps showing the location) and it does not seem to work when the phone is not connected to WIFI / GPS (although the app claims I can connect remotely from the web - couldn't get it to work) and also does not work when phone is turned off.
I see WaveSecure has very good reviews, does it work when phone is turned off? I read above that Seekdroid does it? Sounds interesting and maybe worth paying for it, instead using a free app with less features.
I love the description of life 360 mentioned in this thread. Since a have a teenage daughter (who has also an Android phone) this might be a nice way to keep track of her as well, he he.
Anyway, looking foward to hear any comments or tips which App would be the best for me. Thanks in advance for any advise!

Yeah, at the moment I'm also tending to use Androidlost.com . Like mentioned earlier, I'm not too happy with the interface, but it seems to do the job as long the phone is connected to WIFI / GPS and does not or hardly use any battery / memory. Only one thing I noticed: I downloaded Androidlost.com on my phone and when I go to 'downloaded apps' the program appears there totally visible with the usual 'uninstall' button next to it. I'm a newbie with Android phones and sorry if this might be a stupid questions, but wouldn't a thief very easily be able to simply uninstall the App?
I also looked into PREY, sound very nice, but there is one thing that makes me suspicious. They mention in their app description that in order to track lost / stolen phone you have to send an SMS to the phone to activate PREY. I think it's safe to assume that that first thing a thief would do is turn off the phone and change the SIM card, or not?? In this case the SMS I would send to activate the app never would arrive?
I also tried life360, nice app to 'see' your family members and be able to 'check in' and send 'I'm safe' messages or similar, but for some reason the GPS location is often totally off and this app also seems to drain the battery.
So far, I think I prefer Androidlost, but would need to find out if I can 'hide' the app in my phone, so it can't be easily uninstalled by the thief. Any ideas?
