I gave my 15 year old son my Droid x not wanting him to get into certain apps . Help please. Thanks
Nope. Why give him unfiltered access to the internet if you're worried about certain apps?

Most likely your 15 year old has seen/heard everything there is that you don't want him to see/hear.
Then again, in my opinion, a 15 year old doesn't need a smartphone.
Don't. Besides, I'm pretty sure there's no parental controls as of yet.
And take it from a 16 year old; if you attempt it, he'll not only hate you, but likely find a way around/see it from other places. Trust me. There's no stopping it, and you shouldn't even try. Let the boy have fun.
What apps don't you want him using or d/l? That is likely the right place to start. Do you not want him accessing adult content sites for example? IF so that is a legitimate concern and should NOT be dismissed lightly.
If its the risk of him buying apps that get charged to your google account then I would set him up with his own market account with no credit card attached.
If you are ultimately worried he would (as commented by others) "hate you" for filtering a 15 year old's smartphone then I would go the route of not allowing him to have it. While it does come down to trust you also need to apply parental guidance and control as any involved parent should.
Take away his Droid, that should resolve the issue with blocking market apps.
To the 15 and 16 year olds posting here....parent's don't care if you hate them or not. They aren't there to be your friends and all rainbows and unicorns. They are there to teach you life lessons and keep you from the things that you don't need to be seeing.
If you don't want your son to access things and you think you can't trust him, don't give him a smartphone. Only let him use the parental controlled computer.
Plus, if he's a 15 year old boy, NOTHING will stop him from accessing adult content at some point in time (this coming from a 20 year old who had internet access when he was younger).
Maybe I'm just a over protected parent. Its coming to the point that's all your going to be able to buy is a smartphone. I think they need parent control on the market. I don't want my 15 year old looking at porn and all that .
I doubt there's much in the market that is inappropriate for a 15 year old. Sure there are some apps that are, but it's not nearly as bad as some of the stuff you can find online with a regular computer on the internet.
If it's the purchasing of apps that you're worried about you should set him up with his own google account with no credit card attached. Nothing from the android market can be billed to you that way
