Any apps out there or in the near future that will replace a car starter/alarm remote??
Any cell phone is a car remote! Even Dumb Phones like my Razar V3...
Hold the phone near the car and have a friend call you and hit the button on the remote and the car will un-lock or start!
Along the same lines, it would be cool to be able to unlock your car with the Droid. I locked my keys in my car trunk once and then called 1800mercedes and they unlocked the car via satellite.
The tech is out there and in the car. Now, if only I was smart...
I don't see this happening via an app. Remote starters use rolling code type RF signals just like your keyless entry fob and garage door opener does.
You could however buy a remote car starter that works via a cellular connection, but then you have to pay a monthly fee. When you go that route, you can start your car from anywhere in the world though. AutoPage C3-RS665 Remote Start Car Starter Alarm Keyless Entry System - C3-RS665 - Buy.com
go get a BlueSMiRF modem and pretty sure you can use RFCOMM to communicate serial data with it and android. Says around 100' range (yeah right) and would be pretty simple to interface bluetooth serial with an arduino to make an alarm/starter as long as you don't have to get a passlock module or something to bypass the anti-theft.

I don't believe there's any way to "replace a car starter/alarm remote" with your Droid. However 1033 might be on to something if you want the limited range of Bluetooth.
