Hi everyone. I just downloaded adfree android, and wow what a difference it makes by blocking the ads. Quick question about the options. There is an option to symlink from /data/data/hosts.
First, what exactly does that mean, symlink that is?
Second, I know my ad blocking is working, so should I check the symlink option to use it or leave well enough alone.
Thanks for any info.
that allows AdFree to write directly to the host files after an update while the phone is in use, otherwise after AdFree updates the adblock list it won't take effect until the phone reboots. I leave it unchecked on the off chance corruption could occur if it freezes the phone while writing to the files.
yep, it works, but most new custom roms have ad blocking built in. sometimes the app has trouble talking to big tin can to update host files... :blackdroid:
Guys, thanks for the information.
Stupid question but, does this app block the adds that are included with free apps? If so, how well does it work on a stock phone?
Yes, it blocks those, but does nto work on a totally stock phone. You need to be rooted to use it.
