This may not be acceptable to everyone but I've found that the limitations in the default "gmail" application to be problematic. I use it simply to check email as a result of a notification. When I want to handle more complex tasks, I simply login to gmail.com. (Have it set as a favorite on my browser(s).)
Handling attachments and unscrambling complicated email threads is easier from the website, imo. Of course, if I'm sitting at my desk (as I usually am), I use my desktop PC to handle the email (and google calendar.) For someone with fat thumbs and bad eyes, it's much easier.
I really dont know if one has anything to do with the other, but i have noticed all day that and facebook links i access through gmail lead nowhere. i can open gmail either app or through browser, for instance ill have an email indicating a message on facebook. ill click the link and it opens the browser with a blank screen. try refreshing it still nothing.
EDIT: it has to be something with facebook. i purposely subscribed to some hot topics here and am having no problem at all accessing this site through the links provided in the email.
