Exclamation Official myLock thread - we don't like the lockscreen

with myLock you can now unlock the device in one action - power key, slide open keypad, or any key on the slideout keyboard (not side buttons).

our official project page is mylockforandroid - Project Hosting on Google Code

Please see the faq before posting your suggestions & feature questions here. I'll be keeping that up to date with answers to new feature requests.
officialFAQ - mylockforandroid - Useful information that I am finding to be constantly asked on our threads - Project Hosting on Google Code

If you are having a problem, please see the troubleshooting FAQ

If you experience an issue that doesn't seem to be addressed in those, you can help me fix the bugs fast by contacting me. MyLockAndroid at gmail.
Download Log Collector which is free on the market, and launch it after you experience an error. This will generate an email of the android log so I can see if the interference cause is evident. Please let me know what services were running also via the Settings -> Applications -> running services screen.

Not sure which version to get? See our features guide: http://code.google.com/p/mylockforan...aturesOverview

Ultimately myLock is aiming to provide several customizations and options for locking/unlocking. From disabling the lockscreen to replacing the lockscreen with a widget home lockscreen, to customizing which buttons would wake the lockscreen or cause an instant unlock.

Thanks for supporting the project so far. I decided to push the alpha 2c version into the market today just to try to reach more people with it and get more feedback on what would be useful to people with their lockscreen mod.

Please leave us a good review if you have a minute.

The Camera key, and the Volume keys are also unlocking the phone, if they didn't, and just the power button and sliding open the keyboard unlocked the phone, i would love you forever because i realllllllllly dislike how i have to swipe that stupid lock thing every time i wake up the phone. PLEEEAASSSEEEE get the app to do this. I'm begging you... Also, please notify me when you do get it to do this.. if you decide to... hopefully you do (You would = my hero)

Works great. The camera and volume buttons aren't waking it up for me.

One suggestion, others may not agree, but a widget to turn it off and on may be nice. Id rather have a widget than have it constantly be in my notification bar.

Other than that it works great. Good job.

ok so.... idk.. i might be going crazy, or insane, or both. At first, the Volume and Camera keys were waking up the Droid. But after i seen the other guy's post i decided to check again, and now the camera and volume buttons are not awakening it. I love you guys... forever <3 (no homo)

That's because the device gives you a 5 second grace period or so to rewake with any key after it goes to sleep! myLock doesn't stop that.

I have plans to allow a widget to do the settings if you really like that. We are slowly moving toward a beta milestone for the app. Mainly in next release look forward to an option to not have the icon in the notification bar, in addition to the option of shaking device to wake up

Sounds great, will definitely try it out. I've been using screenmodewidget up to now, which is working fine for me.

Can MyLock be customized so that I can choose to have the volume rocker buttons and/or the camera button wake up the phone too?

I heard that it doesn't go well with Screebl. Has that been fixed?

btw, one more thing which probably is not appropriate for MyLock but I thought I'd mention - The thing I like about screenmodewidget is that it is a widget that also lets me choose the "screen always on" mode, which I sometimes use (eg., lying the phone down flat and reading long articles - screebl is ineffective for that). I don't think such a feature would be in MyLock, I presume. So, if I were to keep SMW and toggle "Awake Stay", then I guess that will also nullify MyLock too, because essentially the phone never gets locked in the first place?

Thanks!

So, myLock isn't working with the pattern unlock, which I totally understand for the alpha. From what you can tell so far, will myLock eventually be able to bypass the pattern lock just like it does the slide lock? (I don't necessarily want to use myLock all the time, and when I don't want to use it, I'd like to have my Droid revert back directly to pattern unlock instead of having to go back and forth through the security stuff from the settings.)

Oohyeah, you might want to give Keep Screen a try as an "Awake Stay" replacement, if you want to uninstall screenmodewidget. It's a program that makes it so the screen doesn't turn off when you're using a specific program, so it might not meet all your needs, but even with Screebl, I find it useful to have a few apps set to never have the screen go off, particularly my browser.

I'm about to poke through the code, hopefully I'll have something useful to contribute.
