BG screen off animated virtual off button.

This is a discussion on BG screen off animated virtual off button. within the Android App Developers forums, part of the Droid Apps category; Hopefully it makes sense. basically, my power button is acting funny lately, so i would like to use one of those on screen "lock device" ...

    GB screen off animated virtual off button.

    Hopefully it makes sense. basically, my power button is acting funny lately, so i would like to use one of those on screen "lock device" buttons...however they are all boring, so i was wondering if there is a way to have it do the screen off animation that Ginger Bread has, then lock the device.

    is this even possible. i kinda figured it would be out there already if it was so maybe someone can clear it up for me.

    feel free to develop it an sell it (although i would love a free copy if you decide to tackle this)
