Camera mounts

Im thinking of using my phone as a video camera and want to make an adapter for my tripod... I am thinking of repurposing a car mount... What do you think?

I would think a car mount would work pretty well, do you plan on changing into a normal tripod or using the suction cup?
The former would be more difficult but you could use it anywhere you wanted.
The latter would be easier (no modification) but you could only use it with a smooth surface to stick to.

Also you could do something involving the power source (Extended battery etc)
OR use a home dock and do something with HDMI out.

And is there a hole for the camera on the car mount?

and the mount can come out of the holder and is a vent mount. I use it when I go jeeping from my dash...
