    I am using Smoked Glass 6. Not overclocked. Everything is great. No lockups. No reboots. Everything just works and is fast.

    The tech guy in me wants to update to ota or a rom running ESE81.

    I need wireless tethering so ota is out of the question no?

    There are several ESE81 roms that I have found. Do I have to update the baseband before I install them? Should I just be happy since I am in phone nirvana already? Will I get something by upgrading? Can I just download and install a new rom.tar and install it? Will the new ESE81 roms overright the corrent SPRecovery? Sorry for my stupidity I don't want to mess up my phone.

    OTA is out of the question if you want to wireless tether.

    You can update the baseband any time you want. It is completely unrelated to the ROM.

    You probably should be happy :-)

    I don't know of any new features in ESE81 over ESE53

    I don't know of any ESE81 ROMs in rom.tgz format yet

    No, a ROM will not overwrite SPRecovery.

    I am on an ESE53 ROM now, and everything is running great. I may "upgrade" to ESE81 in a couple weeks when the Devs have had time to iron out any bugs or kinks.

    I would just wait for AdamZ to release his next ROM if I were you. The rom.tgz format is awesome and his stuff is always stable.

    I did it

    I went back to original 2.01. Then downloaded a file to install superuser to the OTA update. I ran it and now am at 2.1 with root. I installed Adamz kernel so tethering works. The system "feels" faster. So running with rooted OTA and all is well.
