[ROM.tgz] Smoked Glass v6.0 *03/15* (Android 2.1 - ESE53)

I think that's what's causing your bootloop. Seeing many others having problems going the route you did, I believe you should go directly from 2.01 root to installing this ROM. Smoked glass as well as most other roms out there right now are still ese53 based.

I'm beginning to think it doesn't have anything to do with the Build Number, because after I moved back to 2.0.1 using RSD and the 2.0.1 .sbf file then rooted the phone I looked at the Build Number and it is ESD56, not ESE53. I'm going to load SmokedGlass 6.0 now and see if I have any issues.

If I have a nandroid backup of my last 2.0.1 setting, can I restore to that point and have it be there? Or do I have to use one of the tools mentioned above?

I was under the assumption that the restore would work. (I'm not looking to but like to know my options)

That might work, I've never tried that before, using RSD Lite with the .sbf file is pretty easy and fast.

I just reloaded SmokedGlass v6.0 after having an issue with it hanging at the Motorola "M" logo, I found out that you have to choose the highest CPU setting during the install, after that all is fine, now we'll see if it runs good with no issues.

i have tried every way possible i names it exactly how it says and i keep getting an abort 14 error i dont get it and when u do an update.zip for themes or just update of my current rom it goes through but i cant figure out how to customize it at the moment i have bb2.1 and chevy01 1.1 ghz but i cant figure out how to change my themes and or get smoked glass to work i want that but bb is all that would work and my live wallpapers keep force closing and wont load now. helpppppppppppppppp my aim name is riplilman11004 on aim

Nandroid error codes with known issue

14 - Seems to happen when applying a .rom.tgz format. There is too many extensions at the end (I.e. .rom.tgz.tgz, needs to be .rom.tgz) Also could be caused by exracting a .rom.tgz . These files need to be left as a .rom.tgz file.
Make sure it's not Smoked.Glass.v.6.0.1-ESE53rom.tgz but is Smoked.Glass.v.6.0.1-ESE53.rom.tgz (notice the placement of the "dot" before the word rom)

21 - The file name of the folder has a space in it. ( I.e. nandroid/sample rom, needs to be nandroid/samplerom)

25 - The rom is in too many subfolders. ( I.e. nandroid/samplerom/samplerom, it needs to be nandroid/samplerom


28 - The rom is corrupt somehow, simple redownload or pick another mirror site.

34 - This is when doing a backup and there isn't enough space on the sdcard. Delete some files to make room and start again.

35 - The name for the backup is too many characters. Simply rename.


Also in the OP:
(If you have issues downloading or you install and get no menus... download the ROM in *.zip format and UNZIP. Then proceed with the above instructions.)

that really doesnt help me much i know the error codes and i have made sure everything is key.. this is the only rom i have ever had issues with . ive been told bc its a tgz file.. idk adam zzzzz i need ur help bro

Smoked.Glass.v.6.0.1-ESE53.rom.tar

See if that works.

Also, if your renaming it in windows, make sure "Hide Extensions for known file types" is NOT checked, just to be sure that there isn't too many extensions on it.
Oh yeah, make sure your running SPRecovery v0.99.2b or v0.99.3b.

box has been unchecked and im running recovery suggested. Renamed and still getting error codes. i have unzipped named it tried zipped tried taking only system file out ive tried everything the first link to download always gives me a corrupt file i have to use the second mirror link to dl the zip. i have tried so many things if anymore ideas ill be online on aim riplilman11004 if ne one can walk me through a diff way i wish adam z could tell me what this issue is. im so fed up bc i really want this rom if it is as good as i have been hearing

Have you tried downloading the file from your phone and using Astro or AndroZip to make sure it is named properly? That is how I installed it.

Only a couple other suggestions I have.
1- Try downloading the ROM on another computer.
2- Maybe SPRecovery is borked, reload a new SPRecovery image.
3- Start fresh, flash back to 2.0.1, root it, flash image it, SPRecovery it, load SG.
I usually do #3, but that's just me.
I flash it back using RSDLite and the 2.0.1 sbf file, then I install dmupdater, which makes it very simple to root it and get sprecovery on it. Just use dmupdater up to the point where it asks you to select a ROM, exit out of it, then go as normal to install SG.

Other then that, maybe someone else might have some ideas, or try and get in touch with AdamZ.

just tried and still got the same message ive downloaded from 2 diff spots and one was zip one was file neither are working via phone or comp ive tries from all 3 of my laptops and my server as well... fml thanks for all the helping hands though just hope one works soom bb is getting boring i want my retro clock and all my goodies

i have also re flashed my droid 8 times all to 2.01 but 2 when i flashed to virginrom 2.1 then re rooted and pushed sp noting works i get to sp and add other roms but this one just wont work lol
