I know I know, many of you are tired of Note 7 talk. This issue began at the start of the NFL season and here we are at the end of the season still talking Note 7. Sorry but if you can hold back your wrath just "one more gin" I'll try and wrap it up with a quick summary that will hold back from trigger words such as "exploded, exploding, or explosions".

But Samsung has concluded it's investigations and as we thought the incidents were a result of faulty batteries. The original batteries were manufactured incorrectly with small casings and negative electrodes located in the wrong spot. The second batch, used to try and correct the issues with the first, had welding burrs that penetrated the protective tape.

To prevent any future issues Samsung has put in place a committee that will oversea the process as well as put batteries through extensive testing before releasing to the public.

Google Assistant is the Alexa like voice assistant by Google. This is the AI that Google hopes will one day control all your connected things. We have seen Google's assistant in the Google Pixel series and also in the Google Home. Most recently it made it's way to the New Nvidia Shield TV. Now we are getting reports that the software may also be featured in LG's upcoming flagship the LG G6!

The report comes from Business Korea who claims the move is to help LG build relations with western companies. LG is already working with Google on Android 2.0 devices. We will know for sure on February 26th when the phone is announced as part of Mobile World Congress.

From time to time Google likes to discount movies and content to encourage folks to try out their services. These deals are essentially the reason that my family never buys BluRays. Streaming content is just easier. Google is hoping that you will also come to this conclusion after taking advantage of their discounts.

The latest huge deal that Google Play has to offer is the entire Ip Man Trilogy. The series is one of the best martial arts movies series ever according to critics. It goes for $40 on Google Play normally, but you can currently grab the series in HD for only $3. If you love martial arts films you need to grab this one while you can from the Play Link below.

We received word earlier in the week that Samsung had ended their internal investigation as to the cause of Note 7 devices catching fire. The early revelation was that the batteries were to blame. This is what Samsung had been saying from the beginning. While we expected that batteries may be the actual cause it is good to see that Samsung has an official explanation to go along with the cause of "defective batteries."

According to a report from Samsung obtained by The Wall Street Journal Note 7 devices were catching fire due to the fact that the batteries were to large for the Note 7 housing. They had no room to breathe (expand and contract). Samsung tried to fit too many components in too small of a body. Some batteries were also irregularly sized which further promoted fires when placed under too much strain.

Now that Samsung is sure of the problem will they be sure to correct it with the Samsung S8? It is very likely by now that production of these phones has already begun. Samsung already has a final design for the S8. Will this mean smaller batteries overall for upcoming Samsung devices. Will Samsung sacrifice thinness for safety? If it were your choice to make how would you insure Samsung's devices don't catch fire going forward. I personally would be fine with thicker phones that have larger batteries. The report will be officially released by Samsung on Monday.

Now that most everyone is on some sort of tiered data plan tethering is included. This means if you have a few tablets laying around you can share the data you payed for in your plan with those devices. The only downside is that it takes a bit of setup to get your hotspot going, and every time you need it you have to go into settings and enable it.

Google is rolling out a feature in Google Play Services 10.2 which will notify you to turn on tethering if it notices one of your devices has a poor connection or drops the connection. It will make the necessary connection through bluetooth. The feature will also show you the battery life on devices that connect to your hotspot. This all happens server side so you won't see this happening right away. You will know if you have the feature by going to your phone's setting menu, and opening your Google menu. If the update has been applied to your device you will see an option for Instant Tethering. The feature is rolling out first to Nexus and Pixel devices running Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This seems to be a pretty useful feature.

It may be official! LG has just sent out media invites for an event taking place at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain on February 26. This is exactly one day before the event officially starts. The invite includes the tag "See More, Play More". This once again alludes to LG putting a larger screen on the LG G6. The G6 will feature a 5.7" QHD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The ratio of the image in the image matches the aspect ratio of the LG G6. LG has also included information about the heat pipe, new artificial intelligence in the accompanying press release. I am getting hyped about this device. I think LG is due for a comeback. Anyone else getting excited?

For some reason Samsung has made the default resolution on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge display 1080p Full HD as part of the Android Nougat update. This is likely meant to be a battery saving and performance enhancing change. If you want to continue to take full advantage of your Galaxy S7's QHD display you still can, you just have to re-enable it in your display settings. To be honest you likely won't notice the difference now that you have received the update. If you just wan't to get the most out of the hardware you paid for head to Settings and then Display from there you will be able to toggle QHD back on.
