If you really want to change the look and feel of your device the best way to do so is to add a custom theme. You could go with a launcher icon theme, but that would more than likely feel incomplete. For a more thorough themeing experience you will want to install a rom like CyanogenMod or any rom based on CM. The CM theme chooser allows you to customize the look of your entire rom including the full framework and system UI.

My favorite new theme is by "CynosureArts" and is called Graphi. The Graphi theme brings a darked out color scheme based on the color of Graphite! The inclusion of stark white on top of the Graphite backgrounds really gives this theme a super clean look. There are over 36 apps that have been fully themed to match the Graphite color scheme of the systemui and framework. There are more than 1800 themed icons included. Head to the link below for the free download.

As the stable builds of Cm11 and Cm12 arrive Cyanogen turns its focus on perfecting their version of Android 5.1 CM12.1. The latest updates include some all new features which should improve your overall CM experience.

The stock email app has received some major enhancements including the CM implementation of IMAP and exchange accounts. This allows you to configure your synchronization interval which can help improve on battery life. There is the inclusion of custom dynamic notification tiles. This launches a quick tile for whatever app you happen to be using. An example is if you are in a root session a # will appear in your status bar, with the dynamic tiles you can see all apps that currently have root access. Wifi priorities performs an auto configuration of the preferred wifi connection based on signal quality. If you would rather just chose your preferred wifi hotspot you can do that as well.

We often pick at "cry"os users around here, but if we are honest with ourselves more than a few of us here probably have some "cry"os devices lying around the house. I'll go ahead and come out of the closet here and say that I do own a MacBook Pro which I am typing this article on now, an Ipad Air (my wife's), and an Iphone 4 (work phone). If you are going to own a "cry"os device you may want to jailbreak that bad boy.

I have found that I can do so much more in the way of modifications and customizations on a rooted Android then I can with a Jailbroken Ipad or Iphone. I have also found that jailbreaking "cry"os devices tends to slow them down since files really stack up and aren't cleanly removed from your device when you uninstall things. If you wanted to Jailbreak your iOS 8.4 device the TaiG untethered jailbreak that came out for 8.3 was not patched and still works on the latest version of iOS. This is a one click solution. Ironically it is only compatible with Windows. Go figure! Grab the tool from the link below.

The upcoming 5.1 OTA has already been pulled and uploaded! You do not have to wait till the official roll out tomorrow you can actually install it manually right now! To install this update simply grab the file from the link below and follow the simple instructions.

1. Download the 5.1 OTA
2. Power Down Phone
3. Boot into Bootloader mode (Power+Volume Down)
4. Select recovery using volume to scroll and power button to select
5. When you see Android on back hold volume up and then press the power button
6. Select apply update from sdcard
7. find and select the OTA file (probably in your download folder)
8. the update will begin to install It may take a few minutes.
9. Enjoy

This will not work if you are rooted you will have to do a factory reset. You need to totally restore your device to stock and then it will work.

Earlier "smalltowngirl13" informed us that their is a Lollipop update available through Kies for the Verizon Note Edge. If you intend on rooting your Note Edge you should probably steer clear of this update for now. There is still no full root for the Note Edge, but you can gain Temp Root on the Note Edge. This works on Kit Kat. Temporary root gives you full root access however it will not survive a reboot so as long as you don't reboot your phone you will retain root. Any system changes you have made with your root will also go away after a reboot. Temp roots can be annoying, but they are better than nothing.

Temp rooting the Verizon Note Edge is pretty simple. The one click root app KingRoot will work to root this device on Kit Kat. Once you have achieved root through the Chinese KingRoot app you can replace the shady kinguser app with the supersu app by using the SuperSuMe app. Head to the link below for all necessary files.

For the VZW Note Edge owners, it looks like we have access to Lollipop but only via the VZW Upgrade Assistant Tool (on your PC or Laptop) or via Kies.

You will need to plug your phone into your PC or Laptop to complete the update - there are reports of the update taking longer than projected on the VZW assistant popup (like 2+ hours more)...I am just under 20 minutes right now, and the update is still downloading.

It does not appear that the update can be pulled via OTA just yet - but doesn't hurt to keep checking. I also checked out the Verizon Update Page and it is not showing an active update there either so no PDF link to include with the "software benefits".

Once I am up and running, I will definitely report back with some more details and if any of the VZW Note Edge owners have updated, give us a shout out with what you know!

Here is a short video on the LG G4 Mophie case - it adds the extra battery power without having to power down your device and switching out the removable battery. The Mophie case allows your charge your device on the go with no USB cord. It does add some bulk to the phone (equivalent to an Otterbox or rugged style case) and also offers some protection for the device.

What are you doing to boost your battery life - spare batteries, USB cords everywhere :) or are you pleased with the battery life and are getting thru the day with no problems!

Feel free to post your thoughts below!

It looks like Sprint is making wise moves with the billion-dollar cash infusion by Japanese Softbank owner Masayoshi Son. Not only have they been improving their network, Sprint also just rolled out a new ultra-simple smartphone plan that offers tremendous value called "All-in Wireless." To show off this new plan, they spent some of that investment money to snag Wold Cup Soccer/Football Star David Beckham to help them out in a clever new commercial.

The commercial (shared above) is actually quite clever and funny, and really hits home that Sprint's plan is very competitive. Of course, Sprint can only dream they will get the influx of customers shown off in the commercial, but it's brilliant marketing regardless. The new "All-in Wireless" plan is very impressive too.

What do you guys think? Could this new tactic make a difference for the oft-maligned "Now Network"? If Sprint's network was solid and fast in your area of the country would you consider this offer?

The well-informed fans in the mobile world probably already know that most of the best smartphone cameras in the world are probably using a Sony sensor. The latest news suggests Sony realizes this is a market where they reign supreme, and have decided to reinforce this position by pouring billions into taking their image sensor technology to the next level.

According to a report from the WSJ, Sony wants to raise around $3.6 billion by selling new shares of stock and convertible bonds. This will be the first time that Sony has issued new shares since 1989 (and it did cause a moderate 8.25% stock price drop on announcement). Here's a quote with more of the details,

It's great to see Sony making the wise play by enhancing their strong qualities....

Fans of the Google Nexus series of devices could be in for a pleasant surprise this year. It's no surprise that two new Google Nexus devices are likely coming later this year. An LG made next-generation Nexus 5 has been rumored multiple times, as has been the Huawei-made Nexus 6.

The happy rumor which arrived in our in-box today is that Google may be ahead of schedule with both Android M and these two Nexus devices. Both are supposedly coming at the same time, and both could be launched earlier than expected this year. The intel suggests the devices will be launched in the third quarter of this year instead of the fourth quarter.

If this latest rumor proves correct, it could mean a happy late Summer or Fall for folks needing a new Nexus smartphone. We will keep you apprised as more details emerge.
