Stayed tuned for the latest news from Verizon on the official release of the new Motorola Droid Phone. I believe this will be a game changer for Verizon and will be the start of a new smart phone war between Apple, Research in Motion, Nokia, Microsoft, Palm and Wireless carriers. Hopefully this will result in a much better product for the end user.
Again, we have no idea why Verizon is burying the launch of the HTC Droid Eris alongside the Motorola Droid. If you had any doubts that Big Red was going to launch this riff on the Hero, well, these screenshots of the employee training course should put those to rest. Interestingly, the buttons and logo placement are slightly different from the pic that was leaked to gdgt, but this version certainly looks like what Eric Schmidt was holding the other day, so we're thinking this is the final iteration.
Ah – another day, another Android rumor. As Android fleshes itself out into the torrential go-to OS for smartphone manufacturers that we’ve all hoped it would, we can expect to see more and more Android rumors rambling about. In other words,
According to TheUnlockr, the phone you’re looking at above is none other than HTC’s first Snapdragon-powered Android phone, the Passion for Verizon. That seems a bit strange for a couple of reasons:
It looks nearly identical to the HTC-made Android phone spotted a few weeks back, which was purportedly a VZW-purposed variant of the HTC Hero. Would Verizon carry two nearly identical phones with greatly differing specs?
There’s no Verizon branding; of all carriers, Verizon tends to be their one that sticks their branding onto prototypes way, way early in the game.

Here's a playful look at how to make Verizon's new Android handset the best phone in the galaxy.
Did you know that Lucasfilm owns the trademark to the word "Droid?" Apparently, the word is mentioned once or twice in that "Star Wars" movie he made a bunch of years ago. As it turns out, if someone wants to use the term in an official product name, they've got to clear the rights with George and company.
Say, hypothetically, that you're a phone company like, oh, I don't know, Motorola. Now say that you've got a new Android handset coming out for Verizon and you'd like to call it the Droid. In order to do so, you've got to clear it with Lucasfilm. Now, say, you get permission. All of your ads and such, from here on out, will have to carry fine print that says something to the effect of "DROID" is a trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd. and its related companies."
Interestingly, once you've cleared the usage, Lucasfilm actually gives you a little...
Verizon Wireless has created a stir in the market with their latest Android Phone by Motorola aka Motorola Droid. With their ad-campaign of Motorola Droid spoofing the iPhone, it was able to draw the attraction of almost everyone who has even have the least interest for the gadgets like this. The phone was at first announced to be available on Wednesday, the 28th of October, 2009 but it seems that it is going to be postponed until November 6. So hold on your breath for some time to get your hands on the device. However, if you want a closer look at the phone with some more information than the technical specifications, you can read our Motorola Droid Review here: http://gadgetophilia.com/verizon-android-release-date-price/

Verizon's much-anticipated Droid smartphone came into the spotlight this week, but it seems this will be only the first in a series of Android-based devices, with the second model -- named the Droid Eris -- expected early next month. The initial model in this series will be dubbed the "Droid by Motorola", while the Droid Eris will supposedly be made by HTC. HTC DesireThis device was briefly shown off by Verizon and Google at an event early this month (see image at left), revealing that it will be a tablet-shaped model with a strong resemblance to the HTC Hero.
It will allegedly have an 3.2-inch HVGA screen, Wi-Fi, 5-MPx camera, and a GPS receiver, but no hardware keyboard. This model has the code-name HTC Desire, and it was under that designation that it received FCC approval late last month. It will run Google's Android OS, but the standard user interface will be replaced with HTC Sense. However, the Google applications will still be included, and users of this smartphone will have access to the 10,000+ apps currently on the Android Market, the on-device software store.
Release Date & Price
The HTC Droid Eris will reportedly launch on November 6, which will put its debut close to the release of the Motorola Droid. It's not known what Verizon will charge for this model.
Two More Android Models
Verizon's Droid series will apparently include at least three models: the Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid Eris, and a third model...
