How to change text message tones?

Hello,
I haven't been able to change the tone that plays when I get a text message. I know I've done it before, but may have forgotten or something else is wrong.
When I go to Settings > Sounds > notification sound, I change the tone but it doesn't work for texts. Its does work for email and app downloads/updates though.

Any help is appreciated!

Open your text messaging app, hit the menu key, go to settings or preferences and you should see where to change notification sound there.

Yes it did haha. I should've been able to remember how to do that since Ive changed the tone before. Thanks again
